Hello Friends!!!! I promise I tried to do a post last night-but there were terrible storms here and my satalite internet just wasn't having it!! Oh the joys of living in the country!;) So anyway-These pics are from Tuesday:)
Here is a quick photo I snapped during morning message:) I always try to have a pointer that matches our theme for the week:) They LOVED the giant foam finger as a pointer:)
Here is a cute youtube video for the Take Me Out to The Ballgame Song!;)
We spent our day singing Take Me out To the Ballgame!! I'm always surprised when we dissect the song and talk about what each part means-how many kiddos have NEVER heard of Cracker Jacks!!!
(ALL of the following activities can be found in my Baseball Unit!!)
Here are the lyrics to the song in our pocket chart.
After singing the song and talking about the lyrics-we glued it in our poetry journals and illustrated it:)
Here is the Take Me Out to The Ballgame emergent reader. We go through and read each page and decide what words/chunks are missing. Then we filled in the missing pieces as needed.
Here a sequencing activity that we did with the song. We cut all of the pieces out and layed them out so we could see them. (While the kids were busy cutting, I played the song on the radio. This gives them something to listen to while they're cutting and it also gives me a way to have everyone done at the same time:) I say "I'm going to play the song 3 times and you have to have all of your pieces cut out and put safely into your pencil box. Each time the song is over, I will say-"I'm going to play it X more times". I gives them something to do while they're cutting AND it reminds them of the order of the song:) Then, we talked about what happened first in the song. We found that picture and glued it on number one.
Here is the finished product. On the other side, they lyrics are glued. And it's hard to see-but there is a little player attached to a string that they can move around the plate to "resing" the song:)
Here are the literacy centers that we did this week! The first center can be found in my Baseball Unit. The rest of them that you will see and many more can be found in my Baseball Math and Literacy Centers. You can also check out yesterday's post to see some of the math centers in action:)
All Words~
Sentence building-They spin the spinner, put the sentence together and add whatever they want to the end:)
This one says "The fat cat hits a homerun."
Here is the response book that I use for the beyond level kiddos. They have to write the word, use it in a sentence and draw a picture to match.
