Sorry!! It's been waaaay too long since I've posted!! Where does the time go?!?
Anyway, I just wanted to share some cute, FREEEE activities I did with my kiddos during our nocturnal animal unit.
It all started when I saw these ADORABLE shape bats on pinterest. I decided that I MUST have them and Yaaaaaaaay!!! The templates were FREEEEEE!! ;) You can grab them from
Diane at teachwithme.com.
I thought this might be a good chance to do a shape review. So, I got out my magnetic spinners!! Do you have these?? If not, go check them out....
I made a shape spinner on the board and called one student up at a time to spin. They had to tell me what shape it was. After they told me the shape-I let them go pick the shape from the stacks that I had laid out on the floor...
Here's how our shape owls turned out!! Aren't they adorable?!
Well, after our shape owls...I thought we could use a color word review too! Color bats, or course. So, I looked around for a cute bat template and guess what?!? I found a free one from
I made a little spinner on the board again with color words this time. If they could read the word, then, they could go pick that color up...
We also added a black strip to the bottom and I typed up the sentence "I am a (yellow) bat." Then, I chopped them up and they glued them back in the correct order under their bats.
We also did a Venn Diagram comparing bats and owls. Here's our bulletin board...
You can grab the labels for the Venn diagram HERE!
If you are doing a nocturnal animal unit don't forget to grab my lift the flap interactive center FREEBIE HERE from my TPT store!!!! Your kids will love it!
