The boys could not wait to get their hands on this!! When we opened up the package-this is what we found....
10 different dinosaur skeletons
10 nameplates
10 individually packaged Model Magics
One paint block
One paint brush
The boys picked their favorite dinosaurs to get started! Luckily for me, there was a chart on the back of the box that showed the name of each dinosaur-so, we could easily match up the correct nameplate with the skeleton ;)
Next, they grabbed their model magic and started rolling...
So much fun!!
We flattened our our clay and made our fossil impressions...
Perfect!! So cool!
Time to paint! This paint is AWESOME!! <3 paint blocks! NOT messy and so convenient! Just get a small cup of water and paint your fossil. When you are finished with that paint-just let it dry out and store it away for next time!!
Pressing in the nameplate...
Even after you make your fossils-you still have 10 awesome and totally realistic dinosaur toys left to play with!!!!
And here is the finished project!! It turned out perfect!! And this was a super simple, super fun and virtually mess-free project!! Doesn't get much better than that-does it Moms??? ;)

So many things you could use it for, including using the dinos as math manipulatives, etc. Who wouldn't LOVE to count to 10 with dinosaur skeletons? Makes it even MORE exciting... lol

I teach Pre-K in a very poor school. Something so sensory like this where they can actually see and feel what a fossil is and looks like would be amazing! I would LOVE to put this in my science center!
ReplyDeletemary.perisho@manorisd.net
I teach Kindergarten in an extremely poor district. Any resources that I have, I bought out of my wallet. When I introduce the letter D I always study dinosaurs and fossils with the students. We usually create fossils with popsicle sticks, but if I could have this I am sure this would expand their interest and make my science center even better.
ReplyDeleteWendy
This looks absolutely awesome!! Boys love anything with dinosaurs and I needs lots to keep my kiddos engaged. This takes making fossils to the limit! Love it! artandcraftmom@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI too teach in a poor district. This would be an added bonus in our program.
ReplyDeletelaura_k8@hotmail.com
This is just way too cool! I could use this at a center for F or D week and we could make dinosaur fossils! Too cool!
ReplyDeleteJustine
Have to love technology...posted before I completed my thoughts..lol...the activity above would be perfect for our partner study time. Students would have the opportunity to learn about Palentology, archeology, math and literature. Wonderful
ReplyDeleteWould love to add these to my dinosaur unit! I already do something similar with plastic dinosaurs but the skeletons would be so awesome to use!
ReplyDeleteThis would be SO much fun in my discovery center! My kinders would LOVE it! wolfcub521@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI would use it in my pre-k classroom! The kids would LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Pre-k class is mostly boys this year. They and the one girl would LOVE to explore the world of dinosaurs.
ReplyDeleteI always do a dinosaur unit with my K class in April... this would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis would be a wonderful addition to my dino unit. I've been trying really hard to strengthen this unit. I even bought some real fossils this summer but I've been worried about how fragile they are. This would make for a great experience.
ReplyDeleteSide note: Look up coprolite. If you can find it locally it is really cheap. I think the kiddos will love it. ;)
Heather
How exciting to explore dinosaurs-- a kindergarten favorite! A dinosaur uniit would be used across the curriculum;math, science language arts. The manipulatives provide the motivation!
