Frog Unit and Math and Literacy Centers

A few weeks ago we worked on out frog unit. I'm finally just getting a chance to post about it and just posted my centers about a week ago.

Here are the centers that we worked on:
The kids loved this one!! They put one of those little plastic hopping frogs on the lilly pad. First, they have to predict how far they think their frog will hop. Then, they hop their frog and record how far it actually hopped.
Not the best picture...but it's an action photo of the frog hopping:)
Students pick a card and write the answer in the box. Then, they color that many boxes on their 10 frame and show it in tally marks.
 Froggy subtraction:
Students build a frog with pattern blocks. They use tally marks to show how many shapes they used and then answer questions about their numbers.

 Frog rhyming oddity:

Silly sentence building:

 Sorting blends:

Here is our schema chart...it's not very pretty-but it did the job:)

We also did this ADORABLE frog lifecycle art project from Kim Adsit.

You can check out her frog and butterfly unit here:

And here is our Venn diagram comparing frogs and toads:)

  1. These frog activities look great Katie! We don't do a frog unit in kindergarten at my school, but if we did I would really love the frog jumping activity.
